The Bog Blog Is Moving!

To our Bog Blog community,

For more than a decade, you have read, shared, and followed along as the Bog Blog documented wetland and watershed work happening in communities across British Columbia. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has taken the time to read these stories, support the work behind them, and contribute to this space over the years.

As our work has grown, the Bog Blog is moving to a new home, but it’s still the Bog Blog you know.

The Bog Blog, which many of you have followed through BCWFbogblog.com, is now hosted at https://bcwfwatershedteam.ca/bogblog/ as part of the B.C. Wildlife Federation’s Watershed Team website.

This move brings our archive of Bog Blog posts — documenting years of work in communities across B.C. — together in one place, alongside the team and projects behind the stories. If you’ve been subscribed here, we invite you to visit the new site and subscribe there to continue receiving updates.

A Blog Rooted in Wetlands

The Bog Blog began in 2010, under the leadership of BCWF’s Wetlands Education Program, which was founded in 1996. From the beginning, the goal was to share accessible, educational content and stories from the field about wetlands, wildlife, and the people working to protect them.

Over time, the Bog Blog grew into a living record of restoration projects, partnerships, species stories, and lessons learned across British Columbia.

From Wetlands Education to The Watershed Team

Since 2010, BCWF’s wetlands work has continued to expand. In 2021, new funding helped establish the Wetlands Workforce, strengthening BCWF’s ability to deliver hands-on restoration, training, and stewardship across the province.

Today, this work is carried out by what is now known as the Watershed Team, also referred to as BCWF’s Conservation Stewardship Department. As the team evolved, it made sense for the Bog Blog to move with it, while remaining the same trusted space for sharing educational content and stories from the field.

What’s Changed (& What Hasn’t)

What hasn’t changed:

  • We are still the Bog Blog
  • We are still sharing educational content and stories from the field
  • We are still focused on wetlands, watersheds, and community-based conservation

What has changed:

Thank you

We are sincerely thankful to everyone who has read, shared, subscribed to, and contributed to the Bog Blog over the past 16 years. These stories exist because of the communities, partners, staff, and supporters who care deeply about wetlands and healthy watersheds.

Thank you for being part of the Bog Blog. We hope you’ll continue the journey with us in our new home.
